It is important to use a combination of fillers and BOTOX® to correct different wrinkles/lines and folds depending on where they are and their depth. Dr. Leake has expertise in the injectable market and has been asked by allergen to become an educator to other physicians for BOTOX® and Juvederm®.

Have those youthful facial expressions turned into permanent creases and wrinkles? BOTOX® Cosmetic is the answer. BOTOX® is the most common non-surgical rejuvenatory procedure. BOTOX® can actually help prevent wrinkles from forming if used early enough in the aging process. Dr. Leake performs more than 500 injections each year. Many of our patients prefer to use BOTOX® instead of surgical correction for wrinkles and lines. BOTOX® injections are primarily used in the upper third of the face. Forehead lines, frown lines (between the eyebrows), and lines around the eyes (“crow’s feet”), respond favorably to Botox®, but can also be used in the lower part of the face. BOTOX® can lift portions of the face by stopping certain other muscular actions. Chin creases and neck bands may also be improved with a BOTOX® injection, but response here varies among individuals. The more emotion you show, the deeper these wrinkles and lines become. While you may have earned your worry lines, you don’t have to show them anymore. Although BOTOX® is not permanent, it lasts an average of 3-6 months. The length of time varies for each individual. The injection with a tiny microneedle can be repeated, and early clinical studies have indicated that the duration of treatment benefits is increased over time so you could require injections less frequently in the future.

If the lines on your face are making you look and feel older than you really are, then an injectable may be a good solution. As you get older, the effectiveness of your skin’s natural collagen decreases, causing lines and creases around the mouth, lips, chin, in between the eyes, and on the forehead. Fillers are non-surgical procedures that can sometimes fully correct the “wrinkle” in one application similar to spackle. However, the vast majority of fillers require several injections to complete the desired effect. Replacement therapies replenish your own tired collagen, resulting in fewer lines and firmer, tighter skin. Fillers can also help eliminate or reduce scarring from acne and injuries that have left a depressed area.

Dr. Leake will discuss which options will serve you best. The options include Restylane®, Radiesse®, Juvéderm®, Selphyl ® and your own fat. Autologous fat can be injected into many areas of the face, including the smile lines and lips and is a more permanent option. Most fillers are non-animal-based and fully biocompatible; allergy testing is not required. Dr. Leake was part of the primary trial in the US called JET trial to evaluate the efficacy of Juvederm® which is the latest filler from Allergen Inc. It offers a natural look and feel with long-lasting results for up to 1 year in some areas. It has the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid. Radiesse® is a deeper soft tissue filler lasting 1 to 2 years. It consists of calcium hydroxylapetite, a primary component of teeth and bones. Selphyl is a new filler that uses your own blood to diminish the effects of aging by gradually increasing volume by ramping up collagen production. This procedure is done in the office with minimal discomfort and downtime, some bruising may occur. It can take up to three weeks to see gradual volume gain, and results last 18 months plus. Dr. Leake takes the liquid facelift a step further by offering patients a surgery-free liquid rhinoplasty through the use of off-label tactics to correct irregularities of the nose and to help contour imperfections.
